Chapter 4 - The Confession Over Black Coffee**

I drove across town with my knuckles welded white around the steering wheel, pulling into the faded gravel parking lot of the Seventh Street diner precisely at 8:58 a.m. The diner was a quiet, greasy-spoon establishment with vinyl booths and the smell of stale coffee lingering in the air. Sitting alone in a corner booth near the back windows was Tyler, nervously stirring an unlit cigarette between his fingers before shoving it back into his pocket as I slid uninvited onto the opposite bench. He looked over his shoulder twice before leaning across the sticky laminate table, his eyes darting anxiously. “You came alone. Good,” Tyler whispered, lowering his voice to a low gravelly rumble. “I’m taking a massive risk meeting you, Mr. Robert. If Derek finds out I handed you this flash drive and these paper files, I’ll be ruined—or worse.” He slid a small manila envelope and a black USB drive across the table, partially hidden beneath a menu. I opened the flap just enough to catch a glimpse of bank routing numbers, corporate registration forms, and signed affidavits. “Talk, Tyler,” I commanded quietly, keeping my tone ice-cold and authoritative. “Why are you turning on your bosses?” Tyler let out a bitter, humorless laugh, shaking his head. “Because loyalty is a one-way street with the Millers. I spent three years executing fake lien waivers, setting up offshore shell companies in the Cayman Islands, and forging signatures on real estate transfers under direct orders from Brenda and Derek. They promised me a partnership stake in their new commercial development project. Instead, last week, they stiffed me out of $180,000 in back pay, locked me out of the company portal, and told me to get lost.” He pointed a trembling finger at the envelope in my hands. “That folder contains everything, Mr. Robert. It’s not just the Pine Street townhouse or the $927,000 bank siphon. Derek and Brenda have been orchestrating a multi-million-dollar asset-stripping scheme against your family trusts for years. They planned to drain Gaby completely dry, stage a fabricated mental health crisis using a crooked psychiatrist on their payroll, strip her of custody permanently, and institutionalize her so she could never legally contest the missing millions”. A wave of white-hot fury rushed through my veins, making my temples throb, but I forced my breathing to remain slow and steady, refusing to let my body betray me. “Is there enough here to put them away for a very long time?” I asked, sliding the envelope securely inside my winter coat. Tyler grinned grimly, a spark of pure vindication lighting up his eyes. “There’s enough federal and state evidence in that envelope to lock Derek, Brenda, and Mason away for twenty years on charges of grand larceny, wire fraud, conspiracy, and identity theft. The feds have been sniffing around their construction shell companies anyway; all your lawyer has to do is drop this packet onto the U.S. Attorney’s desk.” I stood up from the booth, tossing a hundred-dollar bill onto the table without waiting for change, and looked Tyler dead in the eye. “If this pans out, your $180,000 will be paid back in full through court-ordered restitution, plus a very healthy consulting bonus from me,” I promised. As I walked out of the diner and climbed back into my car, I knew the war was officially underway, and the Miller family was about to discover what happened when they messed with the wrong bloodline.
