Chapter 4 - The Tables Turn**

The dining hall erupted into chaos. Shouts broke out among the guests as board members and elite partners realized the explosive legal liability sitting on the table before them. Grant Hale stood up so violently his chair tipped backward onto the Persian rug, his face purple with rage as he glared at Adrian.
“You used my daughter?” Grant bellowed, his voice shaking the crystal chandeliers. “You dangled a fake future in front of Vanessa while you were still married, treating her like a chess piece in your pathetic corporate restructuring?”
“Grant, wait, let me explain—” Adrian stammered, backing away from his furious father-in-law.
“Explain what?!” Grant roared, stepping around the table. “That you’re a sociopath who plots the destruction of his own wife and children on a spreadsheet? My firm has millions invested in Marlowe Logistics, and I’m pulling every single cent out before midnight!”
“No, you can’t do that,” Adrian panicked, his professional facade completely crumbling into dust. “The liquidity agreements—!”
“I don’t give a damn about the liquidity agreements!” Grant snarled, grabbing his coat from the back of his chair and glaring at Vanessa. “Get your things, Vanessa. We are leaving. You are done with this lunatic.”
Vanessa didn’t need to be told twice. She grabbed her designer bag, threw one look of utter disgust at Adrian, and fled the dining hall without looking back.
Eleanor Marlowe clutched her pearls, her face twisted in venomous hatred as she pointed a shaking finger at Claire. “You have ruined us! You ungrateful, manipulative little gold-digger! You’ve destroyed decades of family work in ten minutes!”
Claire didn’t even flinch at the matriarch’s screeching. She simply reached into her pocket, pulled out her phone, and tapped the screen twice.
“I didn't destroy anything, Eleanor,” Claire said softly. “Adrian did that all by himself. And as for the gold-digger accusation...”
She turned the screen toward them, displaying a live notification from the New York State Supreme Court and the federal banking registry.
“...you might want to check your own corporate accounts right now.”
Adrian froze. He snatched his phone off the table where he had tossed it earlier. The screen was flooded with red alert notifications.
*CRITICAL ASSET FREEZE: All joint accounts, trust funds, and holding subsidiaries locked under emergency marital preservation orders.*
*FEDERAL FORENSIC AUDIT INITIATED: Marlowe Logistics corporate assets frozen pending investigation into embezzlement and illegal offshore shell manipulation.*
Adrian stared at the screen, his eyes widening in sheer, unadulterated terror. “No... no, that’s impossible. You don’t have the clearance. The master keys are held under my name!”
“Your name was only there because I let it be, Adrian,” Claire said, her voice dripping with supreme, untouchable authority. “Every single patent, every foundational asset, and ninety-four percent of the venture capital that built Marlowe Logistics came from my late father’s private estate trust. You were never the titan, Adrian. You were just the guy I hired to run the cash register.”

Adrian stumbled backward, his knees hitting a heavy oak sideboard. He looked at his mother, then at the empty seats around the table where his powerful allies had already begun quietly gathering their coats and slipping out the side doors into the snowy night. In less than twenty minutes, his entire empire had been vaporized.
